We extract raw materials from the sea to "Rolling Mills".

How are shipwrecks removed from the sea evaluated? Where is it processed? What does "the ship is razor sharp" mean? You have encountered these questions or have asked yourself. Let us give you the answer.

First of all, what does "rolling mill" mean?

It is a steel tool with holes of various diameters used to turn mines into wire. There are types of rolling mills that are used manually or with a motor. The inlet and outlet mouths of the holes on it are conical.

To significantly reduce the diameter of the wire, the holes on it are arranged in series.

Steel billets or metals are also passed through roller machines called rolling mills to be turned into sheets. This process is called rolling.

COLD DRAWING CAN ALSO BE MADE

Pipes and different profiles can also be obtained with rolling mills. The billets to be extruded are usually around 1,250°C. It can also be cold drawn.

HOW TO DO?

In the rolling process, the rolling rolls rotate at the same speed but in the opposite direction. As the metal (steel billet/plate) passes between the rollers, it becomes as thick as the gap between the two rollers and undergoes plastic deformation. Since the clearance between the rolls is less than the inlet thickness of the metal, there is a decrease in the exit thickness of the rolled metal.

Rolling is a mechanical pressing process and the only force applied is the radial pressure provided by the rollers.

Another effect of frictional forces is that they move the material between the rollers. As the section thickness of the rolled material decreases, there is a small increase in length, called "elongation", and in width, called "span". The amount of spread depends on the dimensions of the rolled material, the rate of deformation applied, and the diameter of the rolls.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HOT ROLLING AND COLD ROLLING

In the process known as cold rolling, the metal is similarly rolled, but not heated. Since the cold metal cannot be bent, greater force is required, but a smoother and more complete cross-section is obtained. Generally, the turning of hot rolled metal into thin sheets is accomplished by cold rolling.

In this process, microscopic structural defects occur in the material and the yield strength and hardness of the metal increase and a small-grained structure is formed. On the other hand, the ductility of the metal decreases. This situation can be eliminated by "annealing".

ARVIN WILL MELATE HERE!

The Arvin shipwreck will be disassembled and removed from under the sea by Aras Shipping and will be melted in this rolling mill and presented to the Turkish industry as raw material and will contribute to the Turkish economy as a recycled product.
